Gunthorpe Celebrates 29 Years in Business. This year, we have grown from 2 Employees to averaging more than 50 employees. We managed to survive the severe downturns of 1980-1983, as well as slow periods in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

Gunthorpe Plumbing was founded in 1980 by Ralph A. Gunthorpe and son R. Lynn Gunthorpe. Larry L Gunthorpe started with the business in 1980, he started in the apprenticeship program in 1978 as a plumber and pipe fitter and graduated in 1982.He received his masters in 1987, currently he is the President of the Mid-Michigan Mechanical Contractors Association, JATC Board, Health and Welfare Trustee and Past President of the Builders Exchange of Lansing. Jerry L Gunthorpe started with the business in 1983 and graduated from the apprentice program in 1987. He received his 4B Boilers License in 2003.

Jerry L. Gunthorpe Started in 1983, Gunthorpe specializes in Plumbing & HVAC installation, commercial, industrial, and residential new and remodel, as well as commercial and residential service.

Gunthorpe Plumbing started a service division in 2002, Gunthorpe Mechanical to serve both residential and commercial industries. Gunthorpe Mechanical plans on increasing the volume of business through service and generate an increase in revenue. Gunthorpe Plumbing & Heating Inc. will continue to pursue contracted work, (Bid and Negotiated) with an increase in revenue of 10% to 20%. With a continued effort in Quality and Safety we plan on serving the mechanical industry a quality product and excellent value.

Through the commitment of productive, loyal employees, Gunthorpe Plumbing has consistently grown. This continuity and the ability to grow in step with changing building technology and contract methodology are the foundation of our reputation as a reliable, responsive mechanical contractor. Gunthorpe maintains very important relationships with many local companies including Michigan State University. Gunthorpe has a very loyal workforce and does not have a large turnover of employees. To date Gunthorpe Plumbing & Heating has completed over 1,200 contract jobs and Gunthorpe Mechanical over 15,000 service jobs.
